The encryption password

You have the opportunity in options to set the encryption password. Take this password very seriously. You must not forget it and it should not be possible for other individuals to find it out.

Do not use a known word from the dictionary nor any name as a password. You can best remember a good password as follows: Remember a brief mnemonic saying and use the initial letters of each word for the password.

Example: "Hänsel kommt selten alleine nach Hause" generates the secure password"HksanH". Use upper and lower case letters in the password

It is just as important that you do not forget the password.

Changing the encryption password - warning!

You need to proceed with caution if you want to change the encryption password! Because the files you have already backed are, and will continue to be, encrypted with the old password.

The simplest thing to do is to make a complete new backup of the files after you have changed the password, using a different folder or even a different backup data carrier.

Then in a second step, delete the previous backups.

For companies with strong security policies there is the OTP (One-Time-Password) implementation of 7-Backup.
