Backing up to the Internet |

You may be wondering why backing up to the Internet is a good idea. The answer is: the data are removed from your location. This offers tangible advantages. It is not far-fetched that a thief could steal your entire IT infrastructure including backup media. Water ingress, fire or even an earthquake could irretrievably destroy all data stored on site. What do you do then? We have a saying in Switzerland: gute Nacht um sechs Uhr or you might as well call it a day. Studies have proved that two thirds of all companies that suffer a total data loss are forced to file for bankruptcy within the next five years. The solution is remote backup and what that boils down to is: you back your files up via the Internet to another computer anywhere in the world, except on your own premises. In 7-Backup you can use any FTP server you like to back data up over the Internet. In special editions of 7-Backup the backup can be restricted to a specific FTP server. You can use variables to have the target backup folder created dynamically. |
