Anyone regularly making a backup will perhaps soon have a problem with storage space. 7-Backup offers a clean up wizard. This allows you recreate additional space on the backup! Click on Tools > Clean up...or simply on "Clean up", to open the window. Note: The "Clean up" window will also be presented to you once you click on the "Free up storage space" button when shown the message "Zu wenig Speicherplatz auf dem Datenträger (Inadequate storage space on the data carrier)".
Deleting files manually You can select files which will then be deleted in one go. If you would like to select numerous files for deletion, you will probably be able to do so faster and more simply using this method than if you use the Windows® delete function. This enables you to detect files that have already been moved or deleted from the original source and whose presence on the backup is now redundant. Before the files are deleted by the wizard, they are displayed in a list. In this list, you can check each file individually and mark it with a cross. In this way you can schedule the files to be removed from the backup once and for all. If you have moved the files, they have presumably already been backed up again in the other location - check this. The wizard shows these files as being deleted in the original location. You can then delete these files. By the same token, you do not as a rule require files on the backup that you have already deleted yourself. Tip: Be careful when using this function if you have just recently deleted data. You may have deleted files that you still need and which you have to play back from the backup before they are deleted there as well. If you use the historization function for your backup you can use this wizard to delete older file versions. In the wizard, you can specify the age at which the files are deleted, or you can delete all historized files at one go. |
