The term "Backup task" is common currency in 7-Backup. A backup task comprises one or more elements (for example folders or files) that collectively constitute a backup task. A backup task therefore contains information telling the backup software what is backed up and how.

Th following sceen detail depicts just such a task.

You can save the task by selecting the item "Save task in ... " from the "File":

The Windows® save dialog you are probably already familiar with will appear. This will allow you to specify where the task is to be saved. The simplest thing however is to leave the default folder setup alone and save in the preset folder. 7-Backup will also display this folder first when opening this task. When you launch 7-Backup it will reopen and display the task that was last opened. You can add an unlimited number of elements to each task. And an unlimited number of tasks is also possible.

There is a check mark to the left of each element. During the backup, only the elements marked with a cross are backed up.

Only back up changed files - or run a full backup?

You can use the check mark "Only back up changed files" to determine whether you would like to back up all the data or only the files that have changed. As a rule, you don't need to back up the unchanged files a second time as they have not changed. In most cases, therefore, this check box will be enabled.
